MATRA Automobiles files into bankruptcy

With the end of the manufacture of the Renault Espace in 2001 (Renault made now its own Espace IVth generation) and the bad sale of the Renault Avantime (less than 8 000 units since 2002), the Matra aventure, which made these cars, is finished. They also made sport cars and SUV as the 1968 (Baguera, Rancho, etc.).
It's a pity that Renault and Lagardère (main shareholder) let this make fall, and the government doesn't seem to do something. :puke12:

Do you have a source that says they actually filed for bankruptcy? I only read that Lagardère is closing Matra.

Truly sad - I caught an article last week that, in reviewing the Chrysler Pacifica, quoted the Matra Rancho as one of the first crossover cars.

Link to article (http://www.automobear.com/2004%20Chrysler%20Pacifica%20no%20great%20revoluti on%20-%20but%20if%20you're%20looking%20for%20space,%20pa ce%20and%20grace,%20it's%20good.html)

More's the pity that the Avantime failed - Head Designer Patrick LeQuement got the new style right with the new Megane, but I guess the whole 2-door minivan deal was a little too much for most people.

EDIT: Link doesn't seem to work. Try going to Automobear.com, (http://www.automobear.com) and scroll down to the Pacifica article.
