Crankshaft Pulley

I have one bolt left on the crankshaft pulley and I haven't been able to get the last bolt off. What can I use to get this bolt off?

Are the edges of the bolt head rounded off? Or you just cannot get to the bolt head itself? If you cant get to the bolt, just rotate the crank until you can get to it. If its rounded off, you may have to loosen the crank drive gear, and pull the pulley and gear so you can get to it better. The crank bolt can be a real s.o.b.:banghead: I use a Vise Grip locking chain type wrench, I go between the grooves on the pulley. There is just enough of a flat area there so the chain will bite good if it goes into the grooves you can mess up your pulley, so becareful and its a good practice to wrap a rag aroung there also before you tighten up the chain wrench. By the way put at least one more pulley bolt back in before you do this. Get a good size breaker bar, let the wrench rotate around so it bottoms against something solid, and good luck:naughty:

Give us more info. How are you holding the pulley fixed? Is the pulley rotating? If the pulley is not rotating, I suggest using a 2 to 3 foot 'cheater bar' in place of a ratchet wrench. Sometimes I tap longitudinally on the bolt head with a hammer, but recommend against this in this case since the impact will be taken by the crankshaft bearings, which might damage them.

When you get that taken care of, I recommend replacing those bolts with allen heads M6x1.0x20ish (IIRC).

If you're talking about the large center crankshaft bolt, try this. I've never done it, but I've read that if you put a socket and breaker bar on it and then crank the engine over it will loosen the bolt.
