Neighbor has a small leak from his water pump, wants help changing it. Doesnt look to be too difficult except it looks like other accessories are hung off the water pump. Any thoughts or approaches to changing it? I asked him to pick up a repair manual.
Thanks

Just unbolt what ever it takes to get to it and bolt the new one back on.
I would go a brand new water pump over a rebuilt.
Good time to check hoses and belts and flush coolant at same time.

Fan attaches to clutch with a few bolts but there is one big hex net on the fan shaft between the pulley and the fan.

The big hex nut is the one that removes the fan clutch from water pump.
The fan blade stays on the fan clutch.
Leave the belt on to help hold pump while breaking the nut loose.
They make a fan clutch nut remover wrench or a big wrench that fits the big nut and a whack with a hammer on the end of wrench will take it lose.
After you get it lose it will screw on off easy.
