Air cleaner / valve cover question

There are a couple of things that run from my air cleaner to my valve cover and I wanted to buy an after market air cleaner. Does this mean I have to change my valve covers? If I do replace both of those will it still run fine?

Depending what year you have, there should be three things that attach to the air cleaner: (1) A vacuum line that controls the hot air valve on the intake tube protruding from the air cleaner assembly. You won't need to worry about that if you get an open element air filter. Just plug the vacuum line from the carb. (2) A hose from the A.I.R. system leading to the front of the air cleaner assembly. That I believe you can just disregard if you get an open element air filter, but DO NOT plug the hole coming from the A.I.R. system. (3) The breather coming from the passenger valve cover. You can put a stand alone breather in the place of the line, or many aftermarket open element air cleaners come with punches and optional screw on fittings on the underside specifially for breather's and other pollution & venthilation system related hoses.
