Seat Belt Jammed

My grandkids opted to wrap the passenger side seatbelt on the second row around the seat. The reel cannot release since the belt has to fully retract to release the inertia drive.
I know there is a way to release the pawls in the unit to allow it to free up.
Does anyone here know the sequence to do so?
My next plan is to unbolt the reel from the floor and allow it to retract. But actually trying to avoid that.
The vehicle is a 2004. 70K miles. Not sure if the belts are still covered under the required federal warranty.
Thanks for any help.
Roger

Roger, I take wrapping seat belts around seats any day over spilled big gulps that happened to mine last night. Anyway, if you are referring to where the location where it is attached to the seat as well b4 you click it in across the seat then the following will work. If you look at where the belt attaches to the seat portion, you should notice a slotted window on the outside of where it clicks in. There is a red window in the slot that releases the metal end if you push in and move the red slot up.
I am not sure on the release of the standard mechanism where the seat belt fastens though if it will not release when the red rectangular button is pushed in. Maybe a similar process where some pointed or slotted tool releases it through a hole. I would call a Chevy service center and get advice over the phone if mine doesn't work. Good luck.
