Engine Swap Help!!!

i own a 2004 mitsubishi spyder 2.4L automatic and i want to engine swap something into it but i don't know which engine i can swap. i want info on what parts i need to buy since i most likely will need a manual conversion too? i was thinking maybe a 4g63? let me know all the info. or if u just know how i can get major HP in my car, let me know as well.

if you have no idea, you do not need to be anywhere near an automobile. read the stickies, research, learn from others, then re-ask the question. Of course by then you would have answered your own question.

You can't reasonably swap the v6 into the 4cyl car. Mounts aren't the same. You would have to fabricate mounts for the engine bay.

5 grand is modest. If he wants high hp v8 killing power he can spend upwards of 15,000. And I personally like the awd , evo setup using the 2.4 motor. But he's loooking at some serious cash and he needs to not sink everything he has in it. Or. Redneck it and stick a smallblock In it. I know, genius.
Or he could just buy an evo for the going rate of 19 grand they are now??

If you bothered to read that instead of asking something that was CLEARLY covered over a year ago, maybe then we would have been a little nicer.
Here so you dont have to work your brain to much trying to find the thign.
Motor Swap. = NO, Your stock motor is more than enough. Turbo it and swap to a manual. Even swap heads with an EVO VIII.
Guys with EVOs put our crank in them for more displacement.
ECU tuning. After you swap to a manual get a ecu for one to. Flash the ECU with EVO ROM. Basically gives you standalone for 1/10th the price.
Internals are up to you.
The motor will handle around 250-300hp bone stock.
The difference between the auto and semi is that you get the little +/- thingy.
Thats it. Both trans have the same shitty gearing.
Mainly the 3rd gear witch goes from around 50 all the way to 106.
Even just throwing a turbo on the car and keeping it auto, while only making around 250WHP will cost you near 5k. (thats if you do ALL the work yourself.)
No one makes turbo kits for this car, At least not ones that wont be either delivering incomplete or blow your motor up.
Not to mention the needed Brake/Suspension upgrades you should run just to stay safe. (another 2/3k)

the fact of the matter is we put the stickies at the top of the forum to prevent people from asking silly questions like this. We used to get people like you every few days, and since the stickies we get people once a month. So congrats on being the noob of the month.
3gs are not race cars, they are very limited on performance mainly because they suck and are extremely expensive. When your first post is "I need an engine swap" what do you expect us to think?? You didn't even read the stickies posts at the top of the forum before you started asking questions that are far beyond what you should be concerned about. Read, s
use the *search* feature, and use clear and concise English. Ppl dont lik i-net shorthand.
You also have to have goals before you even start. "major horsepower" is a useless goal.
And people come here to ask questions that have done some research we spent days writing and rewriting so that kids like you could get answers without having to deal with us. There is an unlimited amount of things you can do with any car if "money comes easy" so all you have to do is throw a dart at a board. And you are missing the biggest point of every irrational uneducated question why. It is 10 times easier to stay with the original engine. Why swap it?? The second it is holding you back from doing what you want to do THEN change it. These damn video games make everyone think that everything is so goddamn easy that you can say it and it can be done.
If you really have no problem with money buy something that will impress people. There is nothing impressive about a 3g eclipse and it certainly isn't going to get you anymore ass than a Honda. Buy a corvette, buy a viper, buy a lotus. There isn't anything at all impressive about an overpowered front drive car either. You can't win races, you can't do any decent 0-60 times, it isn't going to impress people when you have to pull the ebrake to slide across the highschool parkinglot.
If you want to make that car *quick* (12-13 second quartermile) expect to spend 5-10 grand. If you are incompetent with cars and someone is doing it for you, that could run up to 15grand easy. If you really want to swap to manual(which is completely unnecessary) it could cost 5-10grand or more not doing it yourself. All-wheel drive could cost another 10 grand to have someone do. So, now you've spent 30grand on a 8,000$ car and odds are you can't drive well enough to go faster than 11s. And you will be breaking things constantly.
30 grand would be better spent somewhere else and not on a car that when you are done will be 2 generations behind the current one, and all that technology is outdated.
So the question is why? Then how??

see? there u go, now u have told me some useful information, and i did read that sticky but it seems that the stiky was only talking about gt's and manuals....it didnt say anything about these bullshit 2.4 liter engines that suk ass...and im not really in2 racing, i mean i go 2 street races but just as a spectator, im more in2 style, looks, appearances and thats about it but every "nice" car needs sum horses under the hood....not just 147 hp, thats just embarrassing....i got my ass handed to me by a 1992 pick up truck and that wasnt cool at all....but now that u guys have pointed out actual numbers, then its not worth it....thats all i needed....and the thing is, they dont make cat back exhausts for 4 cyl? they make absolutely nuthing for this peice of shit car....this car is going to remain slow 4 life then? and money comes easy but not easy enough to buy a lotus...thanks for the help.

It just blows my mind how many people walk into this forum expecting people to walk them through the entire process of swapping a motor that doesn't even fit into their car with prices and everything... It will never be that simple. I had no idea how much money I was getting into when I started my motor build. It ended up being almost 3 times what I expected it to be and the only way I learned was to read, read, read! I cannot express enough how important it is to read everything and anything you can about your specific car, motor, and all possible upgrades before even touching anything.
Also, just because we are a forum doesn't mean we will have all the answers to the questions you ask. You have to remember that not everybody here is a car guru. Granted, there are a lot of knowledgable members who know their shit, but you have to come into this forum a little bit more humble than how you did. You can't just demand people to tell you how to do stuff. Is that how you learn in school? Definitely not. People share their knowledge through their own self experiences and what others have taught them through time. It's a process that takes time and cannot be learned overnight. 2 years ago when I started my whole project, it was all I could do to change my oil in my car. Now I've had the entire thing stripped down to the frame and rebuilt it all from the ground up. I certainly didn't learn it overnight and I didn't have somebody to walk me through it. I had to just learn as much as I could and tear into it as I learned.
Now, all that said... If you haven't even touched anything on your car before and you are only 17 then I'm assuming you have a limited income and don't even know where to start on your car. You say the 2.4 is worthless and that they don't even have an exhaust for it. I could sit here and agree with you and that would be the end of it, but the truth is that it's not. You could build that 2.4 into quite a beast with the proper research and mods. Just because it's a 4 cylinder doesn't mean its a bad motor. There are still many people on this planet that doubt the 4g63 motor, yet people are running low 7's in it at the track. That's twice as fast as newer stock v8's will run... You could easily have a custom shop make a full exhaust for your car. It might cost a little more than buying a pre-fabbed one but it can exist. You could always build the internals of your motor to handle boost in the future and eventually turbo or supercharge the motor and it could run a lot more power with the proper supporting mods... It's all about learning what you can do. Just because something isn't offered for your motor doesn't mean it can't have anything done to it. I actually know somebody who has gone and built up their 2.4 motor in a 2nd gen Eclipse and turned it into a beast...
So don't get mad when people are hasty with their answers to your questions. It's because we see them nearly everyday and nobody takes the time to actually read and learn before asking them. I hope you actually took the time to read all that I had to say and that you will actually learn what you need to do from it...

I oughta slap the shjt outta you for making such a retarded comment. BTW before my car was totaled I was in the same place as you. 2.4L Automatic. Had just about everything to turbo my car and put down almost 270 at the wheels. (JUST FROM TURBOING NO INTERNAL WORK AT ALL) I know just about everything there is to know about these "bullshit 2.4 liter engines that suk ass", and just the fact that you think that theres no replacement for displacement tells me you should sell your cars and get something that get 1 mile to the gallon.

I might also mention that those 2 years of technical school are fairly similar to medical school, you can finish in an amount of time but there is so much more to learn that it will take another 10 to actually claim to know everything.
