I post earlier in another build, but do not want to distract from that build so I say here...

Some you guys get too territorial and protective!

I am afraid to ask question:
Some of you out there need to not take your self to serious. People ask question about flaw on someone build and you make need to go add "constructive criticism" to the other person build asking the simple question??? You have to go attack someone for ask question saying "i look for your build to ask constructive criticsm but I cannot find you work", "do you want to share any of your work with us"?. Why does ask question mean you then have to be afraid of your work be attacked? Does that mean then only people with high talent can ask question? They are the one who no need to ask question!

I am afraid to build:
If anohter builder looks too much like someone else build, you get attack for it? Is only one person allow to make nascar car out here and everyone else is accuse of copying or not give credit to another persons?

I ask this question on thread on AF and get response like "where are some your builds that you can share with us" and they tell me the person doing attack has talent. I know the person has great talent. That is not issue, the issue is you make it like people cannot ask question without fear of being attack and people cannot build in fear of looking too much like somebody else.

I know who has talent hear and I know you all. I am hear for years and post this under different name as to not fear attack from you by saying under real name.

I beg to you please, let people to build. Let people ask question without be pissy response and automatic wanting to retaliate on other person asking the question.

I like you guys:
This is come from me to ask you to better hobby and be fun, not drive people away by fear of the response to trying to learn. I am not angry at anyone, I want us to be more like family of builder making sport better, not territorial gang member who make themselves better by knocking other down.

Very true. I visit in this section everyone once in a while. I have posted before that I have yet to see a poor build here. I don't know why anyone would think that would be sarcasm.....:disappoin

I really am jealous of the talented people in here. I was into modeling in school, now that things have slowed down in my life where I COULD build, I CAN'T because years of using impact wrenches. I can't write a paragraph with a pen and paper without my hand and wrist killing me. (Most of the time, I get timed out on a reply as well due to needing a break)

I would think if you put your "baby" on display and anyone said "thats nice!" you would be proud. Not jump to conclusions about being insulting....
Its NOT solely in the modeling forum either....a lot of people are wound too tight and need to lighten up....
But I can understand about the "outsider" or newbie thing.....:p

I for one don't mind critiscim, as it helps me to become a better builder~ The reality is even if your the 'best' builder around, there's always another level to reach for.

As long as I continue to learn, it keeps life interesting for me and keeps me excited about using what I've learned.

I don't 'know' everyone here at A/F but I do know that because of the enormous amount of talented builders and inventive people who have been willing to help me become a better builder by offering advice and support as I struggle to get better, I HAVE BECOME A BETTER BUILDER.

I continue to learn and it's been a constant source of inspiration for me!

The meaning of Success is different for everyone. Continue to show your work, and be proud of it! If someones up tight, just be glad it's not your problem and take advice from people you know mean to help you!

That's pretty lame that you have to register a new name for fear of some sharp words. Don't you think it suspicous when someone with one post is willing to offer up constructive criticism? I've seen plenty of posters offer up all kinds of comments and never post pictures of their builds. Why not? Are they afraid or "constructive criticism" on their own work? I agree things get snippy and groupy at times, but people are by nature protective and defensive of their own work. Your comment of "Maybe now we go give your builds "constructive criticism" as result of your comment?" didn't really help the cause out, either. There are plenty of other forums if you don't like this one.

Personally, I post pics of my models for a little feedback and to "document" my work and progressive improvements. Everyone has their own reason. I build for myself and have only to please ME. I've picked up lots of great advice from people posting in my threads, and from looking/commenting at others. I still find it funny when someone who builds orange-peeled, fogged out glue bombs of a car and photographs them with a cell phone camera can offer up their advice. Don't you see the irony?

That's my $.01 (I'm having a 1/2 off sale on opinions this weekend.) :grinyes:

the only thing I'm going to comment on is this:

I am hear for years and post this under different name as to not fear attack from you by saying under real name.

what does it say about this forum when you feel this is neccessary?
It may be a language thing but fear is a strong word and if you really do mean fear, then people here need to think more about how they are presenting themselves.

Well, it looks like I went and started something....

First off, After reading my response to turbokid15, I did come off a bit harsh. For that, I apologize. Clay Kemp is a friend of mine & I guess I took it too personally. However, if you read turbokid15's reply to Clay's Jr. car, was his any better? Here's a guy that tries to point out a blemish in FLAWLESS paint job & when was the last time you saw a WIP or completed build from him? All I'm saying is how can you be in the position to critique(harshly I might add)somebody if, you yourself don't post any of your work? How do we even know you build models? You could just be from another section of the boards trying to start trouble.

I personally like to get feedback & comments on what I do. It helps me to become a better modeler. If someone sees something on one of my builds that could have been done better or differently, let me know! But do it constructively & know what your talking about! I spent 3 years in art school & can take just about anything you can dish out.

"You could just be from another section of the boards trying to start trouble."

It has been my experience in school, work and life in general that there are many people out there who are so unhappy with themselves and their own situation that they enjoy dragging others down into it..

Some of us need to seriously grow up and get a life...

This forum has a bunch of talent and has been very informative; more than many others. I met deiracefan (Jay) in Atlanta last november and he (as well as many other members) gave me tips and shared tricks. People are helpful!

Yes, it can be cliquey and people get a little "pissy." Some of it may come from the internet where you can hide behind the screen and be more brash than you would in person, some of it comes from misinterpreting others responses, and some of it comes from @ssholes being @ssholes.

Dunno know why but the story remind me very close Turbokid and the white/green Clay's Nascar: if so you're doing giant a bit. If so I don't know why: those member (TK) got just a feedback against, and the tone was in the "fair play" area. So I dont think that a huge talent like Clay is "untouchable": more than a person (included a Mod) explained the reason gently.
If so those members (TK) hasn't got the whole AF against, so if you like to choose a new name, just ask mods and do annoucement.

"Constructive criticism" is an old stuff that smell, I guess most of us are tired to discuss about.

Before someone said me I'm asshole 'cos I got a crappy englis.. sorry for my english :D
