Performance Module by ACR

An Aquaintance of mine who is in the performance parts bus. gave me this little doohicky and said that if I bridged it across the leads on the female connector of my IAT, I would get an immediate surge of power and torque output. He says that it is optimized if I burn premium fuel. He also stated that it might make my engine light come on but only for a short time and to make sure that the "module" is in tight and that I cover both ends of the IAT plug in electrical tape to protect it from the elements........I'm not sure what to make of this thing. It looks like a resistor about an inch long, with an inch of wire coming out of both ends. I guess you are supposed to bend the thing into a "U" shape and stick the two ends of wire into the female connector of the IAT and leave the IAT unplugged and this module is supposed to fool the computer into unlocking a performance setting....I guess.....lol
I think I will just end up putting this thing in the trash....don't like screwing around with the ECU. Anyone heard of this type of "Module" for this year Grand Prix.

Yeah the gimmick which is worthless has been out for quite some time now. Especially on EBay. All it does is fool the PCM module into thinking the incoming air charge is cooler supposedly increasing performance. The IAT (thermistor) output varies based on ambient temperature. The mod is a fixed resistor and keeps the output signal constant. Problem is the PCM will relearn and negate any possible benefit. Nothing beats a reprogrammed PCM module from either DHP, Intense or ZZP.

I agree Bob, Not to mention that when that pre-cat o2 sensor sees the rich mixture because of the "tricked PCM", it will then lean out the mixture, and render this 'Mod' completly worthless.

I agree but only in closed loop mode operation Tim. In open loop mode the 02 sensor signal is inhibited or technically disregarded and short term fuel trim typically goes rich especially under acceleration and WOT.

Thanks guys...like I said it was in the garbage faster that you can spit, I got enough problems, don't need gimmicks clogging up the works. :runaround:
