The ruler sure gives a perspective...Just by looking at the cover you think...hmmm, ok, a cover, and then bang! -you realize how small it is!

Wicked! I sure should have a look in the Street section more often. That's one not to be missed!
Gandini rules and it looks like you are going to do his design justice!
Everyone, just think about the cars that were on the road at the time this was created...pure SciFi!
Much has been said about your approach to modeling and the envy expressed! You desrve it:-) I would like to have those tools but on the other hand i don't envy the time you ( or your brother :-) spend in front of the computer. It takes a lot of time until you get a part. At my job i get to torture poor CAD guys every day with stuff they have to model for me. They need time and they are pro's! I wouldn't wanna be in their place but i'm itching to try this myself...gotta learn that damn 3D-software.....
I'll definitely follow this from now on:-)

Thanks to all!
This weekend I did anew the front part of the seats, because with getting of new photos I saw that the previous was not correct. So at now I'm satisfied.
The new part till not cutting (in the centre).

This continues to be one of the most interesting things I've ever seen! I'm curious though, the real seat appears to have 9 panels top to bottom, yours has 7. Clearly you could have modeled this perfectly, any reason for the difference?

I think it has 10 with the one at top that is in the darker upper part.

Yes! You can to count, but you aren't attentive. Look at my previous fotos and you will see all parts of the seats. In the latter case I've shown the rebuilt part only. I remind you as it looks now (without the left panel to better view):

Lol, I knew you'd have a perfect answer on the seat thing. Do you break parts up in order to make tooling easier? But then something like the steering wheel - that has to be remounted and tooled from both sides?

Yes, I do. You are right, if some parts needs to mill both sides I remount they and tool each side. But some parts I force to break and rotate to 3D milling.

I was thinking of the current prices listed at TurboSquid, etc. $150 plus?

I am not interested in competing on the model level. I would be using the files to setup bulkheads and wireform buck for a full-size aluminum copy. (for myself and not for resale)

This would just save me the work of modeling it.

Man,
we got to discuss that in past. This is a subject I want to do, I started to design the body shell but I'm quite back compared your actual stage.
More, looks me stupid create competition (also if competition help quality..) between us: this wouldn't be a Scuderia's project: all I'll offer is a full partnership, where we share profits. On the other side I'm not interested to buy 3D data, I have partially and not problem to finish: it would be just a cool adventure together. If the idea looks you cool, contact me, you shoud have mail somewhere, now, after some Scuderia's and freelance experiences I'm more ready to do something like it.

Not to mention... 1/12 and 1/43 scales... ;)

I wait for you :D

Still alive.
3D-printer Eden-250 is working. The quality of surface is not so good as milling, but the work is much easier. I desided to do a new body because the previous shell has some inaccuracies and assymetry. My scourge is perfectionism :banghead:
So, the next was a rear light.

Hi, friends!
I'm Mikhail. It's my first post and I want it would be interesting to look my Thread.
So, I decided to build a scale model of Lancia Stratos Zero in my lovely scale - 1/24.
The Bertone Stratos was designed by Marcello Gandini, who also penned the Lamborghini Miura and
Lamborghini Countach. The Stratos concept was a development of the Bertone designed Alfa Romeo Carabo
Concept from 1968, also a Gandini creation. Access to the interior of the Stratos Zero was done through
the hinged windscreen. The Bertone designed Lancia Stratos Zero prototype used the same engine as the Lancia
1600 HF Fulvia.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f204/stratos75/Stratos%20Zero/img083res.jpg

My project was begun when my brother created a 3D model of body, engine hood and interior by using the PhotoModeler and CATIA programs.
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f204/stratos75/catprtscr06res.jpg
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f204/stratos75/catprtscr10res.jpg

Then he had making a milling work on his home milling machine with computer numerical control.
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f204/stratos75/Stratos%20Zero/frezer.jpg

And I received some moulds and one complete detail (hood).

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f204/stratos75/Stratos%20Zero/IMG_0063res.jpg

Then I made a body and mountings from epoxy resin and a carbon.

I'm sorry for the long-long time out. I need a motivation to continue the works. Today, I don't need previous bodyshell, because I have the new one made of acryl resin and grew up on the 3D-printer. But it needs to do some works to reduce the thickness of the new body, and then... Be patience.

Little update.
I've made the tire for the front wheel. It was made by means of decreasing of the resin copy, which I put on the left to compare. It was not so easy, because the resin copy was strong enough.
There is the process.

How did you soften the resin enough to decrease the radius of the tire?

stratos75
12-11-2013, 03:05 AM
It was softened in a hot water (100ºC). But it was not enough to fix the result. Then the tire was inserted into a round holder and heated again by means of lamp bulb. Only after that the tire has remembered its new shape. Then a seam was glued by cyanoacrylate.

Can you share with us the information of what and how you casting these tires?
Himself also experimenting with the performance of the soft tires in order to add greater realism of models. Therefore, any comments and experiences are very precious to me.
What form do you perform one-piece?

Pablo13: These copies were made for me by my friend. He is a very experienced man. He is used products of the Axson company (don't remember which exactly, probably UR 3450: http://www.axson-technologies.com/en/find-product/Casting-Resins/Casting-Polyurethane-Elastomers).
He is used also vacuum technology that gives a superb quality of casted parts.
Hope it helps you.

By the time I have ordered new prototypes for the rims and the upper gills. They are very expensive, but fine. Soon I will show them.
