PE for Hasegawa Testarossa

Ok. So, I just got my Hasegawa Testarossa today, and I have to say, I'm not as impressed as I thought I would be. It's a nice kit, for sure, but there are some bits that just aren't going to cut it even for a fairly undetailed build. The mesh for the grill opening, the hood... not going to cut it. The hood latches... erm, no. And worst - the shiftgate as a decal? Oh noes!! It is a nice kit, though.

I know a lot of folks around here have their ear to the ground for coming products, so what I'm wondering is what kinds of rumors and lies are there about an upcoming photoetch set for this kit? I'm hoping someone like CM or SMS or S27 (haha!) will make a set for it. Anyone heard anything promising?

So far Renaissance is the only one that has confirmed doing a photoetch set. I'm sure that Studio27 and maybe Crazy Modeler will do one. As for decals, Renaissance and VRM will be doing some. As far as release dates, that's anyone's guess.

I got my kit yesterday and actually thought it wasn't too bad given the limitations of plastic molding. I agree that some of the things like the shift gate and the seatbelts could have been p/e but I think that would have driven the cost up too high and the kit wouldn't have sold.

I will wait to see what comes out down the road and hope that CM does a set as they seem to cover the best things in each set.

Acustion are releasing some sets too. I'm sure this kit will be support by the aftermarket. I'd like to do Phil Hill's silver and red car from '04.

Here's from Acu-Stions site. I have to admit that I am not overly impressed with their PE and only buy selected. I agree on hoping the CM or S27 does one.

That Acu Stion set look nice. That may be the best set they have done so far.

I always had problems with Acustion PE sets, dimensions are often wrong... if you add this fact to the price paid for the set... you think twice before buying it :screwy:
I will wait for other manufacturers
:smooch:

I also got mine, I think it is a very good kit, the engine looks gorgeous! The engraving looks great, we just need to see how good is the fit of the parts.
I think that, for a plastic kit, we couldn't ask for more, and as Mike said, any metal part or even more detail, would only raise the price.

We just need also to wait for a good PE detail set. AcuStion? mmmh, well, I have several and none of them have a good fit, from the last one I used half of it, so, paying more than 20 USD for a few parts is not worth the money, I'll wait for other offerings.

I just collected mine this evening :D

I also got the p/e wheels sets which -after a VERY cursory glance - look as good as can be expected. I have some initial reservations about the knock-off nuts though.

However, I don;t know what you guys think, but the kit wheels seem as if they might actually look quite nice in their own right. The p/e wheels will be better I guess, but the kit wheels don't seem to be bad.

I just got my kits yesterday, certainly looks nice, and compared with the $250 MFH kits, I can't really complain

You're one lucky man Steven.
As Alex asked, could you post a few close up pics of the wheel sets?!
I got 2 TR kits and 2 wheel kits that arrived to my place 2 weeks ago, unfortunately I'll be back ome only in another 2 weeks time, so a few pics of those PE wheels would be a good teaser for me! ;)
