need help!!!!!1

i have a 95 grand cherokee limited that i picked up from my girlfriend mom and it has some electrical problems..... when you connect the battery the headlights and dome light flash and when you turn the key it starts for about 3 seconds and then dies..... if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like maybe an theft deterrent or alarm malfunction. Does it have a theft alarm system? Try disarming that and see what happens.

It's deffinately the anti-theft. Use the Remote to unlock the doors, if you don't have a remote then lock the doors with the power door lock switch on the drivers door, make sure all doors are shut and using the key unlock the drivers door, if that don't do it unlock the passenger door and then the rear hatch (if the passenger door doesn't disarm the system).
