Hi guys! 1998 buick century custom. 3.1 "M" roller enine. What are the torque values for the Cylinder Heads? Also what value is the UIM and LIM gasketts? I am usin the felpro problem solver gasket set. No instruction sheet was included for this? How or where to you fasten that little black bar with the set screw in it, that mounts to the side of the torque angle guage? In other words, how to set it up for use on the head bolts? Thanks millions.

I believe it is 33 foot pounds for the headbolts and give them a half turn with a breaker bar instead of the torque angle gauge.I don't use a torque angle gauge and do it this way.Should bought the Dorman kit, cheaper than Fel Pro and comes with new intake bolts. It saves time going to the dealer for the new intake bolts.

Actually, the 3.1L Engine (VIN M) specifications mentioned in the FSM for tightening head bolts are as follows. “Tighten the cylinder head bolts in sequence to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm). With all the bolts tightened, make a second pass tightening all the bolts an additional 90°.”
Remember, 90° is ¼ turn, not ½ turn, or from 12:00 to 3:00 on the clock dial! Do not tighten beyond this specification, otherwise the bolts will be overstressed and the gaskets may suffer damage. The sequence for tightening is shown below.

My mistake,1/4 turn after torqueing to 33 foot pounds and that is now I remember now.

HotZ28 & Wafrederick, Thanks! I have used felpro gaskets forever, and never had one problem with them. Just like some swear by a particular brand of oil. For the UIM &Lim torque specs, can i use the thread posted previously? orare they different with a felpro gasket? Ill finish her up tomarrow. Appreciate all help given.

HELLO,
forgive my ignorance of the term 'roller' engine. what exactly does that term imply?

Fish96, The term "roller engine refers to those engines that are equipped with roller bearing type rocker arms. Not the usual ball, stud, and nut mounting variety. There is considerable difference between the two types. Hope this helps a little.
