gma i need help, here is the situation. my 87 blazer 2.8 was using water for quite a while but ran pretty good.{except the normal no power and 12 mpg}.it was low on water and i kept adding it one day but it just kept taking water.i pulled away and it had 0 power 100 ft later.{never had white smoke}obviously i blew a head gasket.bought the head gasket kit, tore it down replaced all the gaskets, checked heads, reinstalled them, put engine back together and tryed starting it.would not start.fuel is getting to the tb but nothing from the injectors.this is what the truck does have:spark, compression(app. 110 per piston),turns over well but when i spray starter fluid in the tb there is a popping coming out of the throttle body but seems to want to start.ihave noticed that the check engine light is NOT coming on when i turn the key to try to get some codes.it does not come on at all!this motor has only 30,000 miles on it.
i have several questions: where is the ecm, is there a tbi fuse, how do i check the fuel pressure, what mark on the harmonic balancer do i use to time it(there r 2 of them). please eo i need ur input bad.i do need a good vacuum diagram sent to me also or a good internet sight to go to.my email is [email protected] all input will help plz get back to this thread. thx eo chaz.:banghead:

What do you think about the distributor position? Spark plug wire layout?

im not sure ive been wondering about that but i think it is correct if the #1 wire from the distributer is slightly on the drivers side pointing to the far left front(drivers side) plug.im hoping someone can explain exactly how the wires go from the cap to the plugs.from #1 i went counterclockwise on the dist. 2.8l thx guys HELPPPP!chaz

No offence but don’t forget # 1 on a 2.8 is on the passenger side, Firing order 1 2 3 4 5 6 clockwise

According to Mitchell looking down from the front #1 is at about 7 oclock. You can set it any where though as long as you start wiring to match it.

Question about the cylinder layout post isn't that the layout for a Ford?

My '64 to '81 Malibu Haynes shows a normal Chevy cylinder layout...odd on drivers side.
My '82-'96 mid sized FWD Haynes shows a "Ford" layout...even on drivers side.
Guess I'm going to need to look for a cheap '80's S10 manual while yard sale-ing.
Come to think of it...I see quite a few manuals in junked vehicles at the boneyard:eek7:....makes ya kinda wonder doesn't it MT-2500?
