Fuel pressure regulator?

I want to replace my fuel pressure regulator but in my haynes book it says nothing about a fuel regulator, and in my Chilton book all it says about replacing them is that the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel rail are serviced as a complete assembley. I would like to know if there is a way to do it without having to replace the fuel rail?

As far as I know it's one piece... it comes out as one piece atleast.

So do I have to replace the fuel rail?

I guess it would help if I told you the spec of my car

I think once you have the rail off, you can remove the regulator from the rail and replace it with something else. I'm not sure though, I know that is true for the LT1 though.

I had a 91 camaro, they all had a 3.1 liter engine never heard of a 3.2L ...I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel rail is one unit...there's no getting around it sorry...

Yeah, you are right. I was thinking of something else. I don't know what I was thinking, because I just put a new fuel rail and injectors on mine and it is one unit. But I know there are aftermarket stuff out there thaat will allow you to adjust the stock one as you please without tuning software.

It's not a picture of a 3.1 like you have. But it is a 3.4 which has the same fuel rail. You'll probably need to remove your upper intake manifold to get to it. Right there in the center of the picture, the circular object, is your fuel pressure regulator. It has several Torx screws holding it down. But they're no ordinary Torx screws, they're the "security" kind. Which look like this:

Now, you can go out and buy a set of these, or you can do what I did. I removed the fuel rail, and got a regular Torx bit. Centered it on the screw, and lightly hammered it on there. It crushes the center nub down so you can then easily remove it. But you'll probably have to remove the fuel rail to do so. But either way, you do not have to replace the fuel rail, the FPR comes right off.
