I got a 97 Prelude and it just started randomly dying when i drive on the freeway. It doesn't do it a lot (maybe once or twice in 20 miles on the freeway). I can start it right back up after it dies and it runs perfect otherwise. Doesn't hesitate, has lots of power.... Does anyone have an idea of what it could be???
THANKS!!!
THANKS!!!

hey, i had the same problem, turns out there was a recall for the ignition. My car turned off all the time. At one point i was the only one that could start the car. Where the key goes in can go bad. I would look into it!!!!! It was frustating. Hope i was able to help.

Oh yeah when i brought the car to the dealer i didn;t have to pay for the work cause it was hondas fault. call a local dealer and see what they say. This happened to me about 4 years ago. Let me know how it works out, also i had some module go under the steering column go i cant remember what its called.

i fixed this problem many times. its the ignition coil. its on the other side of the ignition where the wires come from. you take that piece off and replace it. it wont stop randomly again. this is a problem also on accords. also if your vehicle starts and dies right away, replace the main realay. these relays cause same symptoms, however the car wont shut off while driving.

There's a recall due to that exact problem. It's service bulletin #02-031.
Electrical contacts in the ignition switch can wear prematurely due to high electrical current passing through the switch. Worn out ignition contacts could cause the engine to stall without warning. Although the engine will restart in most cases, a vehicle that stalls while driving increases the risk of a crash.
Dealer should replace free of charge.
