Thor made a sort of bad decision today...

Hey guys, I made a sort of bad decision today, but it was a good one at the same time! The long and the short of it is this: I found a guy with a 2600 pressure plate, brand new sprung 6 puck disk, and ACT XACT flywheel for cheap. I check my monetary sources and I come up like $40 short. I pm him with the offer anyway and he accepted! Thor wont have to worry about clutch slippage any longer! I'm pumped. The bad part is that pretty much shot my spending money for a while, but I can deal with being broke for a while to save a couple hundred bucks.
You know what? Its going down. I kinda realized today, I am halfway through college and I will be moving out 100% on my own in a mere 5.5 months. I guess I'm technically and adult, but this summer is the last "kid" time in my life. Sure I'll be able to enjoy the Talon at a later date, but shit guys I am less than a half year away from having no more ties to adolescence. No more parents looking out for me, no more free place to stay for months on end, and a start to endless heaps of bills. I think I am just going to do it... the Talon is getting did this summer. When I think about it, I dont have much left to round out a pretty decent setup. All I can think of needing speed wise now is charge piping, link, DIY WB02, FPR, and injectors. Why not just fucking do it eh? If I can sell the spare shit I have in my room here plus the recording interface and mics that I havent used in the year that I've had them I should have enough for a used link before the preseason rush starts. Holy shit guys, I am talking crazy. Its been 39 hours since Thor's had some sleep and its about that time before I sell my TV, fridge, and soul for DSM part money. :D

Ok, a couple things...
1) I call the mics and anything other music shit. I'll takem ASAP
2) I completely agree with you and I did the same. Last summer, I finished buying most of my music stuff. My plan was to be out this year (june 08) so I kinda splurged. My suggestion is to make sure all the bills (credit cards and whatnot) paid off before you get out. Makes it a little easier.
3) Good find on the clutch.

For real dude? I was kinda wondering if anyone here wanted them. I'll PM ya about them.
All my bills will be paid when I move out, mostly because I dont have any :). The only bill I have is my $50 a month phone bill and the student loans that I'll have to start paying off in like 2011. I dont actually have a credit card, nor do I plan on getting one for as long as I can. I think I'd abuse it, plus I dont really like spending money I dont physically have.
I think I am going to splurge a little... but I will make sure to save more than I did last summer as well. The McDonalds on the other side of campus is hiring and I happen to have almost 6 years experience there so I dont think I should have too much trouble making a little extra scratch this semester yet. This summer I am just going to cut down on all my extraneous spending... no need to spend $8 a cigar once a week to smoke with my friend when I can buy $8 worth of pipe tobacco and last the whole damn summer. I also had to pay for him a lot when we did stuff, that shit wont be flying this summer.
I think this summer I am going to work at the county again for the normal 40 hours a week plus do the long days when I can. I will work weekends at McDonalds and take shifts on weekday nights when people need me to and I dont have long days with the county. I think that way my county checks will just be purely (well, almost purely :p) savings money for next year and my McDoanlds money will just be gravy to play with. Thor is getting pumped!

Lol. You're funny bro.
It seems like you have most of the things figured out. Sounds good in my book.
You're going to need a CC when you move out. It's too hard on just cash.

Im about to go get me a credit card, or like a store credit card, but im really not going to use it. Im just trying to build up my credit, so Im just gonna buy like a shit load of clothes or something, and go ahead and pay it all off. You aint gonna catch me charging stuff that I dont have the money for, I aint trying to get in debt. F that.
Thor06

Thats what I would use mine for too, buying things I already have the cash for for the sole purpose of raising my credit... and of course if I were to get into a bind.
I think its going to be funded by the selling of my extra parts and the Cavy is going back to stock. I am sort of sick of the aftermarket suspension (too rough on train tracks) and the spring would be the best time to sell the rims. I think I am going to take a trip to the parts bin boxes over spring break, I'd really like to get the DIY WBO2, link, injectors, charge piping, and FPR before June. Man guys, I cant wait! This will essentially be what I started the DSM game for! The only thing I am worried about is the tranny. I suspect its aftermarket as the car came fairly modded for being "stock" but it also shifts exceptionally well for a 1g DSM tranny, but at the same time I dont have a replacement and I can just see the center diff going boom 3 weeks into summer.

i have 4 Credit Cards... i buy one take of gas on each one every month... then pay them off at the end of the month... they seem to up my limit almost every month too, but anyway, got pre-approved for a car lone (did it for fun) no co-signer, no past car lones, only thing on the credit is the cards, rent, cable, and internet... got approved at 6.5% apr... seems to be working for me... (i've had all my cards for about 3-4 years now and the appt/cable/net for 1.5 years ;)) :2cents:

Wow, thats pretty cool. My only problem with a credit card is that I think I would charge stuff I really dont need and cant afford without really thinking it through, then I'd end up nuts deep in debt. I guess I think I might get a BP card sometime, IIRC those were worth like 10 cents off each gallon of gas for the first 6 months you own the car. I'd just have to make for damn sure that I only use it for that.

Yea I got two CC"s one with a 2g monthly limit the other with 5 but I never even come close to maxing them out. One gets me 2 cents a litre of gas thats the only time I use it haha.
What size injectors you looking for? I might need to get bigger ones since I am at 90% IDC with my 720 ccs on e3 and I got the 18g about to go on.

Be careful if you do get a cc or you'll end up pulling a Brian and throwing yourself into an assload of debt to build a DSM. I'm so glad I am out of that situation now. I'll never make a stupid move like that again. But it sure did build me up some mad awesome credit. lol

Stevie, how the hell are you at 90% IDC on 720's and an e316g? What kind of AFR's are you looking at?
I'll be looking for 850's for the ethanol... 80% IDC will be 38 lbs/min and the big 16g tops out at 39 so I should be golden. I *might* be able to get away with 750's or 780's but I am going to try to max this bitch out this summer and the extra headroom would be nice.
I cant wait guys! Shit is going to be bananas! I cant wait to be able to take it to redline without worrying about boost creep! What I really cant wait for is the hordes of tools up there... the big car club up there is loaded with ricers. I had one kid insist that an NA 300zx was going to keep up to a 11.5 sec Supra . Dont get me wrong, theres a couple cool and knowledgable people in it, but not many. The top 8 for 1/4 mile is this:
MKIV Supra - 11.57
GTP - 12.28
94 Porsche - 12.48
Trans Am - 12.80
GTP - 13.16
S10 - 13.26
Camaro - 13.6
Talon TSI - 14.58 (<--- WTF?)
There's some other faster cars around, but damn guys... I should be touching low 12's if I can drive half ass ways decent and I can tune ok. Maybe I'll have to invest in a wet shot for a little extra fun, see if I cant take 'er down into the 11's ;).

I've worked at McDonalds since July of 02 and I actually kind of like it there. Its nice to be an authority on something even though I'm not a manager. I know how to do everything and I can do it well, plus I have enough respect from everyone that I can fuck around and not get into trouble. Matter of fact, I actually trained in the 7 younger managers! Its also really nice being able to choose my schedule, my name carries enough weight there that I can almost hand pick my hours. Plus I am making like $8.70 or whatever and hour there, so its not like I'm getting slave wages ;).
Garrett, you are totally right. Its hard to decide betwen what I want to do and what I should do. What I realized though is now I have a choice... in a few months I pretty much wont. Thats why I'm going to live it up bitches!

anywhere from 10.5-11:1
39lbs a minute. Do the math it works out perfectly.
I don't think you will be able to make mid 11's on your setup. I think you will be in the mid high 12's but prove me wrong :)
I want to see track times though for sure when this thing is done

Ha ha, well Dave, I wasnt a manager a) because I was in the marketing department (we've got two people that deal with the in store marketing and various other things, I was promoted to the assistant at 16) and b) I made it clear that I didnt want to be one. We had a "junior manager" position called a Key... its kind of an intermediate step between a crew and a manager. I was asked if I'd consider doing it and I said no. Being a manager isnt much of a raise but it does come with a healthy amount of tests to pass, work books, dealing with the extra pissy customers, and dealing with money... none of which I have any interest in dealing with for a measly $.40 more per hour or whatever it was.
Stevie, I guess I dont know the math behind it, but I did check spyderturbo's tech article and according to that 720cc injectors at 80% IDC, 11:1 AFR, and 93 octane support 41.34 lbs/min.
Times will be hard to guess as I dont know how qaulity of a driver or tuner I am, but low 12's on a street cars with 16g's is not uncommon at all I dont think. I'll be running a Big 16g (capable of 39lbs/min compared to your 42 on the e316g) at probably 23-25psi on E85 with an adaquate fuel system tuned by link using the antilag and stutterbox, FP2 cams, FMIC (though smaller should fit the 16g fine), free flowing exhaust, a IM that will deliver for those upper RPM's, the lightweight flywheel should free up a couple whp lost in drivetrain loss, sprung 6 puck should allow for good launching, and I have taken out the AC system, sound system, rear seat, spare tire, jack, and a bunch of other various smaller things. I dont think high 11's are capable really unless things go very, very well and I lose a couple more pounds off the car, but I know they would be with a sneaky 75 shot or something. ;)
I do think that I'll have it dyno'd once this summer, perhaps I'll rent a dyno for an hour to dial in my tune. It'll make it to a track for sure atleast a few times. I'd have to say the official goal is for a 12.25 or better, but I'll be happy/blown away with whatever I do... after all the fastest car I've driven to date is only capable of a mid-high 13 or so. I was honestly scared when I raced the Camaro last summer and she was only a fraction of the car she will be this summer.

I think his numbers are used with non-turbo BSFC. Just so you know Brake Specific Fuel Consumption is the amount of fuel, per hour per horsepower, that an engine consumes. Non turbo engines are generally around 0.5 BSFC, while turbocharged engines are generally around 0.65.

Yeah, its the ACT 2600 pressure plate with 8k (one summer) of use, a brand new sprung 6 puck disc, and a ACT XACT chromoly flywheel which also had 8k of use. I dont think I mentioned how much I got it for, that would be $315. I'd say thats pretty good considering that the flywheel was $270 and the clutch was $440ish. :D
