well i got bad news guys last night i wrecked. There is a major 4 lane road that connects my town to the nextl. Well at one point it narrows to 2 and the alanes.. its was foggy bad like i couldn't see maybe 20 feet infront of me but good enoguht to see headlights/brakelights. I was going like 50mph 5 under the limit and suddenly i see a truck *late 80s early 90s s10* sitting == in the road blocking both lanes no headlights no nothing. I got slowed to bout 40mph and swung into the wrong lane to miss his driver door and hit his driver fender well. I havn't seen his truck but they say its totaled bent the frame pushed the wheel into the engine bay and moved the motor over. I know my car is gonna have to have a new hood, bumper, fenders, driver door, and wind shield. It started but the fans are hitting somthing here in just a min i'm gonna post pics. But anyway the car has 109k on it do you think they will total seeing as parts are hard to get and expensive if so i thinking i'll take the money buy it back part it out and then use the money on a new car *ie the prius* i stayed and watched them roll it on the roll back and caught my self patting it and telling her she would be ok....:screwy:

I dont see why it should be totalled. My dad and I could fix that car in a few hours. We fixed a Stealth that was fucked up worse than that.
If you could, take pics with the hood up so I can see the rad support.

The most expensive part your going to need, is paint. pearl yellow is EXPENSIVE, and a real bitch to match.
Other than that, the damage looks very minimal, and superficial. They may try to total it, but I'd argue tooth and nail about it

Well they said if the damages exceed the book value or if parts are hard to fin that they will total it..
The insurance ppl know for sure 2 new headlights, bumper, hood, fenders, and driver door because the fender got pushed back into it.The windshield has a crack and here in ky your not supposed to have a cracked windshield. As far as the engine bay we can't get the hood open even with a pry bar so idk what kind of damage is done in there.. And my insurance is wanting new part s i believe so yeah things will add up quick...
also driver front tire sidewall gash so new tire even thought that one has like 500mles..
i'm actually pushing for total and buy it back and thinking bout parting her out just can't afford the gas and keep fixing it
*since bought the car clutch, axle shafts, 4 wheel bearing in the rear, alternator* things that are messed up and haven't fixed the moonroof crank,2nd gear synchro and 6th gear shift fork that happened when i had the clutch put in...

?!?! how high was your deductible??
Because that is not NEAR what that car is actually worth....

I agree, something seems way off. what did they use to asess the value of the car? i though they used NADA?
but anyways, if i was in your situation, i think i would buy a nice reliable beater for like $1k, and use the rest to start your rebuild. If you have any desire to do a '99 front end conversion, now is the time...:icon16:
have you managed to get the hood opened yet? how's it look?

actual value for your car is probably close to 9k, and that's what they should have given you. I'd have argued tooth and nail. For what they gave you, wouldn't amount to enough to consider the car totalled. You cash the check yet? Call them ASAP and tell them it's not enough. The car is worth double what they gave you. And if they're going to total it, that's how much you expect them to give you.

100% agreed. The value being close to 9k means you didnt even get a check for half the value therefor the car is not deemed a total. If they want to deem it a total they need to write out a much larger check.
