I've had an '00 GTP for 4 reliable years now, only issue in its 98k mile life has been that stupid fuel pump resistor which failed twice. But this was my second GP, and I've now moved on and traded it in on a Jag S-type R. Dealership gave me $3800 in trade-in. This has always been a helpful forum, but even so, I don't expect to get away now without being called traitor for buying the Jag. Only drawback, that car eats gas like a fat boy on a cupcake.

Why would you trade in a nice car like your GTP for barely over 1/2 it's NADA/bluebook value on a JagFORDuar S-taurusType?

We're glad to have had the opportunity to help you on your GTP, I hope you have good luck with your Jag.

x-type is the taurus. Main reason for trade-in was to keep my loan payments down. My friend's dad works at the dealership's repair shop, and when they took the car to check for needed repairs (after the sale), they said it'd cost more to repair than what they'd be able to sell it for. More than just a resonator I guess, turns out it needs a whole new exhaust and nobody was quite sure what was causing the suspension problems. New hub assemblies, tie rod ends were fine. I guess the car also had several small oil leaks.
I've always liked Jags, and the ride is just incredibly smooth and way faster than my GP. I know not everyone like's jags, but I did have it inspected by a trusted mechanic. (still bought an extended warranty, not taking any expensive chances)
