Same FPR Same problem - 02 Venture and 00 Alero

So, after becoming familiar with the Fuel Pressure Regulator and how to replace it on my 02 Venture, I have seen another leaking FPR. This time on a 2000 Alero.
I was replacing the alternator on my sis-in-law's Alero yesterday and I could smell gas. Sure enough, leaking FPR which is in plain view when looking at the 2.4l 4-cyl Alero. She said she noticed the smell a while now so I know for sure it's not something I did while I was replacing the alternator. The alternator is right below the FPR on the Alero.
The FPR seems identical to the one I replaced on my 02 Venture a few weeks go. Local parts store quoted $65.00 (and not in stock) which is about the same from autopart.com.
Come to think of it, the FPR I replaced seems like it's a poorly made/design part. I have a 92 Supra and a 94 Tercel and my family and friends have all other different types of vehicles both older and newer and I've only seen the leaking FPR on the GM vehicles. My father-in-law just bought an 02 Alero so I'll keep an eye out for any leaks there.
Just wanted to pass this on.
Thanks
Darren.
