I have an 95 Wrangler w/ 2.5 ltr auto with 145K. Driving at times the headlights will go out with only the parking lights left on! With the HIGH beams selected it is more prone to happen. Took amp reading at switch, 9.5 amps on high, and 4.5 on low beam. At high beam switch, when selected spikes to 11.5 amps then to the 9.5. Headlamp switch is oily and warm. THinking of replacing headlamp switch and maybe the highbeam switch on the column. Any suggestions?

i have sort of the same problem and ive replaced my headlight switch, but on my 90 yj my radio is grounded to the dash, and has worked fine for a few months, lately when im driving or if i hit my brakes or put on my turn signal the radio cuts out. i have narrowed it down to the dash losing its ground. all ground are good. when i have my headlights on the radio never works, and about 90% of the timewhen the headlights are on both turn signal lights are on and the bright light indicator is on also. the horn wont work if the lights are on, and when i put the turn signal on ALL the lights flash.
If anyone has experienced this before, or if you have any ideas im open to anything---except checking my grounds for the 4th time---:crying:

i foud the problem with my 90 yj. the ground wire from the dash to the fire wall wall was frayed almost in half and every time the jeep jolted the wire was moving and losing its ground, causing all of the problems we have all mentoined. the wire is on the verry back side of the motor and it is basically a regular-old body to frame ground strap. look at it close, because i can almost be certain that this is the root of all evil on electrical problems on these yj's

I found the the problem on the 92 yj , it was the air box mount on the left side .it broke loose and rubbed the wires for the daytime running light box which is just below the air cleaner box
