shocks vs coilovers

i plan on lowering my car about 1.75-2''. im not going to take it to shows or anything like that. just the track now and again. so i dont know if id be wasting money on adjustables. or if the ride quality is greater for coilovers than it is just shocks/springs. and also, im going to need to change my cambers right? i understand tokico is a good brand. i heard H&R is too. but how about for cambers? anyone have any suggestions?

camber is a term used to describe the angle of the tires. facing the front of the car when your tires look like this --> / \ is negative camber, which is what youll get when you lower your car. and when you lower a car, it will affect the ride quality. if you want a good setup, a popular one is Koni shocks with ground control coilovers. that will give you the adjustability and a decent ride quality.

And youll want to bring your car in for an alignment after you lower it, or youll chew up your tires

sorry, i should have specified. i mean which is a better choice just for daily driving...adjustable coilovers or shock/springs? and i understand some people lower their car but dont touch the camber and they just get it aligned and they dont have camber wear. i understand that the lower i go the worse the camber wear would be. i was just hoping someone who has their car dropped at my desired height could inform on if they have camber wear and if adjusting camber is worth it. sorry for all the confusion.

IMO adjustable coilovers arent worth the money for everyday driving. A nice set of shocks/springs will be cheaper and usually give a better ride quality. and yes, whenever you mess with the suspention, get an alignment

Camber adjustment varies from car to car. I lowered my Prelude about 1.5" with Neuspeed sport springs and my camber is fine - my tires are wearing evenly. But my friend lowered his TSX on Neuspeed sport springs and his tires started to wear unevenly - so be bought an Ingalls camber kit and it fixed the problem.

You're better off without adjustable springs if you aren't going to use them for what they are meant for. If you lower around 1.5" you can get away without camber kits, any thing more that should get them. Camber isn't the only thing that changes when you lower a car. Toe will also change. Incorrect toe will wear out the whole tire unlike negative camber only wearing out the inside edge. Whether you choose camber kits or not after lowering you still need an alignment to fix the toe! A little negative camber is a good thing(if it's not tearing up the tires) Incorrect toe setting is a bad thing. That will eat your tires up and slow the car down.
