so i noticed today while i was "gettin on it" for a little enjoyment on the way to work, that everything was dandy 1st and 2nd nice, then i hit third and boosted to 22psi and about 4500rpm , i shifted into 4th. well, when i got back on the gas after shifting (no "speed shifting") just a normal grandma shift, the wastegate was still open (i can here it with my external dump) naturally the car built boost REALLY slow in 4th for a good 5-7 seconds, then the wastegate closed and the boost shot up to 22psi and the gate opened again... my question is what can i do to get my wastegate to close faster?:screwy: anyone else having this isssue? or know of anyone who was dealing with it?

never heard of that happening. So it just opens and closes on its own a random times?
If I were you I would just get a new wastegate they are pretty cheap and wicked easy to install.

no, it opens when i reach my desired boost levels... just i guess it takes a little while to close... i need it to open like it does, then when i shift, close right as the peddle is lifted... but it stays open for about 2-3 seconds after that...when i am already in the next gear and on the gas
EDIT:
It did it again today (3/9) on the way to work (yeah, i work on sundays! SO!) but this time i was boosting in 3ed, and shifted in to 4th, then drove like a grandma at about 10-15 vac... i could still here that the W/G was open for the first 3-5 seconds of driving...

so why not just replace the wastegate? it sounds like its malfunctioning or defective why bother with it?

because my turbo is brand new, maybe 1500 miles? and i dont want to spend $65... and it end up being a different problem... like my BOV is to "tight" and its surging or something like that, because in theory, since surge is when the compressed air goes backwords through the pipe and puts pressure on the compressure housing, then it would pass the the boost controler as well... of is that thought void?

I don't think its compressor surge but might as well soften your bov and see if it helps... But really what else could it be?

well dont mean to bring this back, but i tried a little experiment, and ran the car w/o the boost controller. just fed the positive pressure straight into the wastegate with one line... and what do you know! it works perfect... i guess since you guys know me and all, i feel "OK" asking this question, but since my MBC is obviously F-ed... what MBC can i get that freaking WORKS!?!?!?!

My first thought was the bleed hole on the WG side of the MBC. Make sure it's there and open. Some MBCs put the bleed hole in the NPT to hose barb fitting, so you could have it on the wrong side of the BOV. Others assume you're going to have one installed in the vac line to the WGA. And so on. It sounds to me like that bleed hole is missing or blocked. It's what lets the air out of the WGA when the MBC closes. ;)
