Amplifier Power Wire

I know I have posted in the past on this topic, but I need help running my amplifier power wire. My subs have been in my trunk for 11 months now, being powered by the bose amplifier, which sucks, cause they are 4 ohms, while the bose amplifier is optimized for 2 ohms. Anyways, it was nice outisde the other day and I attempted for the second time to get the amplifier power wire through the firewall. I know to go through the grommet at the pass-thru on the passenger side, but for the life of me, I could not remove the grommet. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know several of you have done this before.

I drilled a hole next to the grommet. I didn;t want to mess with the grommet so I just made a new hole. Be careful and make sure you caulk the hole. What subs amp are you putting in? I put a pioneer elite reciever (horrible AM reception) with a Phoenix gold Amp (Love it) and infinity perfect 12" subs. sounds pretty good and the trunk is sealed up very well.

I cut a slit in the grommit from under the hood...away from the wires. First pull back the carpet and remove the little rubber stopper in there, then cut a slit under the hood, open it up and do your best to see daylight through the grommet while looking at it under the dash. Once you see daylight (or flashlight) chances are you can slide it through. You can also use a straightened out coat hanger and tape the power wire to it really good, poke it through the grommet. Be sure not to mess up the factory wiring in there. I think I jabbed at it a few times so dont worry about it too much because it has a factory coating over it all..but if you continue to scrape and poke at the wires you may short one of them out...
