my daughter calls today says her front drivers door is locked and won't open. (the car has manual locks) calls later says she got it open. i get home and find that the door lock (beside the window, the one you pull up or push down to lock and unlock)is no-where to be seen. I'm assuming that it fell down inside the door. is there an easy fix to this? do i remove the door panel and feed it back up through? or is there more to it. thanks in advance.

Sounds like the lock rod came unhooked from the latch. Take off door panel, should be 6 or 7 phillips head screws. When removing panel you will need to turn the panel a little to get the door latch lever out of the panel leaving the latch and rod attached to mechanism. Then take out the three screws holding the latch mechanism, pull the poly liner off the top left corner (closet to the lock and unlock button)that is attached with a tacky rubber sealant, just pull it down far enough to get mechanism out of door. You should be able to figure out where rod disconnected or if anything broke.
Do yourself a favor while you have it apart and replace the small spring on the mechanism (approxamitlly 1/4" wide by 3/4" long, they are known for breaking and the door cannot be opened) I found the spring at my local Ace Hardware store for $0.90. Hopefully mechanism is not broken.
Good Luck and hope this helps
