2 weeks ago my car started giving me trouble,it would start and run for a bit but after i stopped somewhere and went to start it again it would turn over but not start ,we thought it was the fuel pump,as it would not turn on when the ignition was on,so I had the whole fuel pump assembly replaced,it ran perfectly for 5 days, then i went to get in it this morning, the same thing happened,it turns over and tries to start,a few times it did,but just as soon as it started it died....I need you guys input on what you think it may be.. also had new fuel filter put on also....Please help!

Welcome to AF.

Has the fuel filter been replaced recently ?
Do you hear the pump run when it doesn't start ?
If so you could hav other troubles...

yes we replaced the fuel pump, the assembly and the fuel filter...the pump does start when I turn on the ignition...it turns over and tries to start... actually did start a few times then died just as soon as it started....has anyone had the same problem before or know of someone that does...what do i look for next...I am hoping we will be able to fix this ourselves without taking it to the shop as money is tight at the moment

Where did you get the fuel pump at?If it came from AutoZone or Advanced, take it back and get your money back.Carter,Airtex and Bosch are 3 others to stay away from for fuel pumps.Get a Delphi fuel pump, they make fuel pumps for GM and CarQuest and is the best fuel pump out there.CarQuest did switch to Delphi for their supplier of fuel pump and some are Bosch pumps. The Delphi is the better one over the Bosch.

I would agree with the Airtex and Bosch are not very good and fail quickly.

Might want to get the fuel pressure checked.
The fuel pressure with key "ON" and engine off should be 41-47 psi w/EGR , and 52-58 psi w/o EGR.

I would also pull the spark plugs and check them, they could be fauled out and not allowing it to start. If they havent been replaced in a long time, might consider changing those with AC Delco's, stay away from Bosch plugs too.

Hope that helps
