I've been thinking of replacing the window swiches on the 2 front doors and replacing them with the newer swiches that face upward like this type: http://i19.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/d5/e8/d5ee_12.JPG my question though, what kind of modifications to the wiring would have to be done, or is it mostly the same as the one i have right now? i know its probaly a diff wiring harness

Like the Brougham's have... I was going to do it, but after taking some apart at the junk yard, I said scew it. The harness is different, I'd have to fill in the hole where the old switch was and I couldnt find any that didn't have electric seat controls on them too (which would actually be really nice to have also!)

I dont even have power seats! Actually, when I got my Caprice, it didn't have power anything. You already know I had to add the power locks, windows, truck release and keyless entry. It doesn't even have a rear defrost. I like it though, no lines along the back window. I'm suprised it came with A/C... I'm glad it did though. The only luxury I might add now it tilt steering.
PS: After looking at the picture you have there... I want those pedals!

One cosmetic luxury I don't regret is getting those opera lights.... you never see an pre-'86, non-Brougham, plain Caprice with Opera lights. I serached freakin' high and low for those in 5 different bone yards in my area and found only one Caprice that came with them. Found plenty blank chrome pilar pieces, but only one out of a guestimated 30-some Caprices in the yard.

The opera lights are pretty nice, but i think they look better on limos and caddys, if i could i'd get them for mine though i would but dont think they'd fit well with the sporty look mine has now. i only know of 2 self serve boneyards around my area, one NEVER has any box caprices, and the other does but sometimes they are pretty destroyed and most of the goods are already taken or broken.

Thats unfortunate, I know one of the wards around here takes Caprices and just crushed them right away. They're seen as a waste of space in the yard. As for the opera lights, yeah I don't think they'd go well with the sporty look of your car. I'm going for a combination of things... I want the classic luxury car look and feel, but the underhood appearance and power of a muscle car. See I wish I had a couple of Caprices honestly... one as a nice luxury cruiser, another, maybe a coupe as a sporty muscle car, and then maybe another to keep restored to all stock specs in every way. But I can't have it all, so I try to cram the best of both worlds into one car. I'll tall yah though, this car was great for road trips. Comfortable, smooth, spacious. Alright I'm rambling, I'll shut up.

haha i know what you mean, i was thinking for a while to get another box caprice, or maybe even a bubble one to just work on and mess around with. I havent taken any long trips in mine yet but it runs great that im def not afraid to either, i will soon though thats for sure

mike561: you paint and tint makes your caprice look sharpe congrats on a nice job. 463 you can move over to the 86 style switch if you can get a donor car (door switch pod & wire-conectors ) the interface the wires and your going.
