oil light

My 2002 xl7 started ticking and the oil light came on .it has new and full oil ,do you think the oil pump went out .thanks for any help

Ouch hate to hear that, But first I would check for a defective oil filter, And who changed the oil last? Oil pump doubtful...good luck...

Well I took off the timing chain cover to take a look inside eveything was tight except the oil pump chain it had 1/2 to 3/4 in slack in it ,could it had been slipping on the sprocket.:thinkerg:
