I have a 1995 camry that is not equipped with antilock brakes and it needs the driver side driveaxle replaced. I have the axle removed from the car but was wondering something. My buddy has a brand new driveaxle from his 1995 camry but it is equiped with antilock brakes. I was wondering if the axle from his would work in mine I know they have diff. part numbers and I am guessing that it may work, I would say if would not work vice versa though. Any ideas?

If you can't find anyone that knows, compare them side-by-side both visually and with a caliper or micrometer and make sure there are no differences. If there are differences, then you are taking a chance at your own risk.

You can also go to an auto parts website or into a store and look up the same part for both versions. If the part number is the same then you should be okay.

Now that I've read the WHOLE post...since they are different part numbers, I would guess they are not compatible. IMO, I have a lot more peace of mind by buying the correct part than relying on my measurement skills.

Just as I suspected they are in fact the same and compatible. As I said vice versa they wouldnt work but I am lucky and they do. Everything is identical except the reluctor ring.
