V-tecTrouble Code P1259 But no V-tec engine!

Hey Guys,
I have a 2000 Honda civic, lx with 107K miles on it. I am getting the p1259 engine code wich I am told is a Vtec problem, But I do not have a Vtec Engine! What could this be from? The car runs good but is VERY slow on take off. I am also getting hard shifts but feel it is from the engine running bad(slugish). I hope you can help! Thanks John

Ok Here is some more info, I have the d16y7 engine (lx) and have a P2P ecu (for EX VTEC?) "P2P: 96+ OBD-2 Civic EX Coupe" so can I "reprogram" my ecu? Or do I need to replace it? and would this cause my auto transmission to grind when I put it into reverse? It looks like the guy I bought this car got the ecu from a junkyard. Can anyone help? John

Well I am sad I never got any help on this one, I spent a full day reading all over the net to find the problem:banghead:, but at last I got it! all it was, was the wrong ecu. The one I had was for an ex vtec engine and I had the lx base. anyway I got the ecu for 50 bucks at a junk yard down the road! and it fixed my trans problem too. I hope this can help someone like me in the next few years!
