Racing chopper

I was looking at one of the RM choppers I had in my stash and at the same time had some racing bikes out as well. I noticed there were some extra parts in these kits and thought, I wonder what it would look like to combine them?
Started by cutting off the RM forks and fitting in the forks from a Yamaha. Had to modify the left fork to make it work. Unfortunately, the rims are much too small, so I have to keep the RM rims. I'm probably going to forgo the spoked rims for a different project and work with these for now. Might try my hand at some custom rims.
It is extremely crude right now, but hopefully I can get something mocked up soon. The rear will have a brembo brake as well if I can figure out how to mount it.

Still trying to figure out colors. I was thinking white rims, semigloss black frame and a bright blue tank/fender. Any suggestions?

Well, I wonder what those brembo caliper would do to legs using that angle... Don't matter though, interesting project! Paint choice sounds promising!

Thankfully the laws of physics don't apply in 1/12 or 1/24 scale!
This is my first experiment with decanting spray paint, and I'm hooked!!! Good buy cans hello great finishes with no polishing! This is straight from the AB, and good enough for me. Color is intense blue pearl with T-125 clear (also duplicolor). The rims are duplicolor bright white and frame is their semi-gloss black.
Here are some updates, although I don't think there's much interest:

Trying to add a little more realism to this one. I don't think it's wired properly, but I like the effect.

Really good build so far. Nice color choice and application too. I like the idea of fitting sports bike components on a chopper. It's actually my kind of chopper :)
The Revell kits are a good starting point for customization.
Keep the images coming...

V. NICE! Love that paint - I might have to try the old Duplicolor soon. And how did you do that chain?

And how did you do that chain?
Whole chain is X-32 first, then the sides are painted w/ testors enamel metallic blue and finally the top and bottom of the chain are XF-56.

You hand-painted the blue? Amazing - it looks so accurate and smooth. So now, next question, how did you do the valve stems? :)

Thanks! Testors gets a bad rap for their paint, but the little jars of enamel actually brush on pretty nice. I always apply the enamel a little thick; it settles down nice and flat if you just LEAVE it to dry. It was a little tedious, but not bad; basically a drop of paint on each link. I'm getting ready to build one of the Tamiya Suzuki racing bikes and this is exactly how the instructions show that chain. Unfortunately I'm not that creative; I'm good at stealing ideas though! :grinyes:

Other than the seat, there's no flat black on this bike. It's modeled after a motogp bike, so the exhaust will be painted a silver/goldish color. I'm just trying to figure out what to do with the forks...

why not paint the forks cooper+silver scheme? like Moto GP's! i think it would look great with some sponsor decals, just my opinion ;)
