My younger brother just got a 99 civic si and his driver side window rolls down fine, but when you try to roll it up, it comes out of its tracks, I open the panel, bolted it back up in the tracks, and it still comes out. The side of the window toward the back of the car seems to roll up faster than the front. I know this happens to many civics, but what is the fix for it?

try lubing the rubber seals that sit inside the tracks and prevent the window from rattling if you look inside the panel and see the tracks that the window is held in place with youll see the rubber

It rolls down fine, but when it goes up, the back part of the window goes up first therefore bringing it out of the tracks. What can I do about that? I don't think the rubber seals are too bad at all.

if thats the case readjusting the adjusting bolts loosen all the bolts and roll the window up if it rolls up good then the adjusting needs to be readjusted if so then roll up the window with bolts loose when the window is all the way up then tighten all bolts except the one bolt that has a little play on each side like a regular bolt goes in a hole thats the same size as the bolt well this one is different usually located by the door lock midway

I had this happen on my '00 EX a couple of months ago. The window had jumped out of its track. There is a track on the forward and rear edges of the window in which the widow slides up and down. You'll have to take the door panel completely off (disconnect the power window control switch and remove the speaker cover and speaker and the retaining screw inside the door cup, the cover around the door handle pops off). It all has to come off to get the door panel off. Once off, you'll see a couple of places inside the door that are covered with plastic sheeting or a clear plactic cover. They are held in place with some kind of puddy. You have to peel these back to expose the openings that allow you access to the window. You'll have to loosen a couple of bolts that connect the window retainers to their mechanisms. You'll be able to figure it out once you're in there. Work the window back into its tracks and be sure it's sitting properly on the lift mechanism and tighten the bolts back. I sprayed some WD-40 in the tracks to soften the rubber a bit. Connect the window control switch and ensure that the window moves up and down as it should. Do this before going to all the trouble of putting the panel back on only to find you have a problem. If everything checks out ok, disconnect the window control switch and begin putting the door back together. Use duct tape to secure the plastic sheeting and plastic cover you had to remove (no one will see it anyway). Put the panel and other components back on in the reverse order they were removed. It's a bit tricky getting it back on, but just work with it and it will go. Should now be good as new. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately you recieved bogus info from the other guys. I know how to really fix it. I own a 2000 SI, and I had the same problem as you. there is two ways to fix this problem one replaced the weather stripping between the glass and door frame or by some honda silicone lubricating spray and spray in the gap where the sits when you roll the window up. that silicone lube is very expensive from honda. You may be able to acquire it from somewhere else but couldnt tell you where. I had the same problem but that only happened on humid days right after it rained. hope this helps.

If those other fixes didn't fix the problem maybe your window regulator may need replacement. My driver window regulator failed and was causing it to be extremely hard to roll it up & down at Kragen's I was able to purchase a replacement regulator however it is only for a vehicle with power windows (like yours) Dorman part number 740-737. $30

good luck
