01 durango spare tire holder

hey everyone i have a 01 durango and after figuring out how to get the spare tire out from under the truck i wound the hook back up now it wont come back down.is this common or am i going to have to bring it in to get it fixed/replaced?any feedback would be appriciated thanks:)
