1989 GM intermittent wiper problem

Sometimes my wipers just stop in random spots on the windshield. This happens if the switch is set on intermittent, low or high. It waits for an undetermined time usually about 30 - 60 seconds then moves a little more. etc. This problem does not happen every time I use the wipers. They also do not fully park. They can be made to park by quickly turning them on/off. Can I bypass the interval timer and just run them on low or high? Thank you.

My wipers run in intermittent low and high the switch bypasses the intermittent on my Chevy pickup. I can run in either low or high will yours?
