Have you tried searching the forum for options? When's the last time you changed the transmission fluid and filter? Have you checked the transmission fluid level and condition?
Realistically, expecting a bunch of responses within 2 hours of posting your question is not always practical.

Have you checked the kick down cable? If it has one it will be attached to the throttle plate with the cable from the gas pedal.

Hey, new here also. I have the same problem with my 96 explorer. It doesn't shift into out of first gear all the time until you let of the gas a little. I also get a flashing o/d light after driving for a little while. I went to a transmission guy and he said he has seen this before and its probably ready for a rebuilt, which around here is $1800! The truck itself isn't worth much more than that. I don't know what to do. The tranny fluid is full and looks clean but I haven't done anything to it in 80,000 miles. clodgoe2 have you got any answers on this yet? I don't know what to do.
I've read other place that replacing the filter and readding the fluid lost helps and there may also be a sensor that can be replaced but not sure.
Help.

i heard that it might be a senor either the transmission range sensor or the vehicle speed sensor and also heared that if the fluild is over the cross hatch area on the dipstick it could do that to my o/d never flashed
