automotive products thinning

guys, how do you thin (ratio)
- 2K clearcoat
- automotive color

it is recommended to add max 10% of thinner, but for our purposes + small dia of airbrushes it seems not enough. they look too thick

It also depends on how large your nozzle on your airbrush is. I find it difficult using 2K clear with my HP-CS which has a very small nozzle, but on my HP-BCS, which has a larger tip, it works much better.

Just experiment and soon you'll find what works best for you and your setup.

Yes: such products are designed for a 1.5/1.8mm diam spraygun's nozzle.
It depend from the thinner: if it is safe or not (too hot) for primers, plastic undercolors and decals.

In my experience (Lechler brand, all acrylics matt base and 2K clears) I tried up to 400% thinner ratio (reccomended 5-15%) without problems of running, crater (solvent evaporation) or other, I found the best ratio around 100-150% of thinner for the clear. Thinner is called Acrifan, is a good kind of solvent ( as far I remember it cost 15-18 Lt. ) but can't say nothing about formula.

Speaking of professional automotive color base (like Hiroboy's Zero) I follow the old "milk viscosity" formula, ever good for the airbrush. Not to meant than Zero colors are ready to use.
