I noticed a lifter tick a while ago i no for a fact it is because it only happens sometimes and goes away and all my buddys who own dsm's say its a lifter. But as time went buy it got louder and doesnt clear up does that still sound like its a lifter?? Do they ever contiunously make noise? Im trying seafoam tonight and puttin 10w30 oil in it hopefully that helps clear it up seafoam is said to do wonders.

Lifter tick (I believe) doesn't go away. It will continue to make noise until they get replaced. I'm not sure if seafoam will work, but always worth a try. Someone correct if I'm wrong.

it actually can go away lifter tick occurs due to oil port through out center of lifter is clogged and it vibrates around makign a ticking nise b.c no oil can pass throw it. Machanics say it will go away im goign to try seafoam. To change the lifter do you have to pull the head?If needed i will but i hate setting timing.

You can change the lifters out with a flathead screwdriver in an hour with the head on and cams in. I did it with a 4G63 head but I have no idea what head you are talking about since you didn't say.

Alot of the 4g63 motors have lifter tick. There isin't anything you can do about it. Some people change oils and it will go away or upgrade to the 3gen lifters.

 Sorry dude, but are you sure you havent got a rod knocking. In my experience lifter tick sort of comes and goes and doesnt really get much louder... rod knock starts off sounding like liftertick and two blocks later it sounds like theres a midget in there with a pickaxe.

This is true although I wouldn't use seafoam cause its tough on seals but use Auto-rx. It safely cleans without solvents.

If he had a rod knocking he would damn sure know it after a few miles. It would seem as though he has driven a lot and it only gradually gets louder.
