gas mileage for a 3.0 caravan

i just bought a 99 caravan with the 3.0 V6. i was wondering what kind of gas mileage to expect out of it. it seems to be taking a little too much gas for me but i came from driving a sunfire with a 2.2 5speed. i know you cant compare those two vehicles but i spent $80 this weekend to go 600 kilometres. that seems a little too much. im going to check the actual gas mileage this week but id be surprised if i get more than 19 or 20 miles per gallon. i would think i should get at least 25 miles per gallon. any information would be great. thanks

Sounds about right in line with mine. I have a 2001 with a 3.3L and running around in town I am getting about 19 MPG. On my last long trip I got around 25 MPG. Just my two cents.

Ya, you're a tad low at 19/20 if that's what you get on the highway. I get 23/24 on a trip in my 96 3.8ltr, and 17/19 in city traffic. The list for possibilities is a mile long. Are you seeing any other symptoms like hard starting, hesitation, raw fuel smell, black smoke at anytime out the pipe, pulling left or right? Is it hilly where you live and on your usual trips?

I'm getting the Chrysler predicted mileage. I'm sure your van's mileage is rated higher than what a 96 was predicted to get so your expected 25mpg sounds reasonable.

My 96 with a 3.0 got about 24 MPG on the highway. One thing, these vans do not do good mileage wise if you are bucking a headwind.

96 3.0 19-20 town, my avg 24.5, as high as 27 pure highway

The 3.3 and 3.8 get better gas mileage than the 3.0 and last longer than the 3.0s.The early 3.0s,about 1996 and down had valve guide problems.The valve guides fell out.

2000 Crysler town and country (same as a caravan,,,and I also have a 1995 caravan too...which gets better milage since it is smaller and lighter) I get about 19 city and around 23.4 highway
