I've got a 98 Pontiac that needs to pass inspection asap. I can manually clear the DTC with my auto tap but then I'll need to drive it until it does all its checks. Any other way to clear the codes. How many drives cycles does it take?

whenever you clear dtc codes it does not matter how you still will need to run vehicle on the highway and on some back roads for about 20-30min at normal operating temp. to relearn .......

I understand that part but how long does it take the vehicle to clear the codes by themselves?

that can vary widely depending on the code and the system and your driving habits.
I'd just clear the codes. Drive cycles are much faster

What kinda codes you getting? Just clearing them will not reset anything. Unless they are intermittent codes, then you may get by for a bit before they reset.
