Hi all,
i managed to do something here after ploughing on this mod for some time now.
i'll be building the hinges & modifying the interior later, but before i proceed to crack the brain juice out of my head...please take a look at this mod so far.

can you figure it out which particular ferrari i'm tryng to copy/build?

please, in your best opinions...if it's a failure, say so.
i rather stop & throw it away now, than wasting anymore time if it is going nowhere...

this is my first time in 'opening all' model building, it's really tough.:disappoin

thankx!

Looks very promising to me. But show us a pic of the real subject already!

well, that's the point...

if the majority of the AF modeling community can't figure out just which particular ferrari i was trying to copy/build...chances are, it's a flop.

make a guess, what (ferrari) does it look like to you?

cheers!

To me it lost any Ferrari identity but anyway it own a self kind style: I want to see painted to judge better: only thing are sides: to me the side, and mainly the door, is very flat: I would see some shape there, may be not another intake since you got aleady enough :D but a smooth form (ex. Jag. XJ220: also if I know there the form is justified by the intake...

Looks like an attempt at an FX? The doors puzzle me though as they seem a tad flat, but I think it has potential!

Nice project!!!

I think this is exactly Sultan Of Brunei FX.

Certainly looks like it's going that way :)

Yup, why are you unhappy about it?

It's actually positive that you're unsure about it looking like the real FX, means you know your subject well and you have high expectations. Which is good.

give it a little spray of gray primer and take it from there.

I like it, I like it a lot!

Marc,

IMO, I like the look of things so far. I dont know what Ferrari your going for here, since my Ferrari knowledge is limited.

This is not a failure, and you should never look at it that way. You say this is your first time opening one up. Your learning something right? Thats not a lost cause! Why does our opinion matter so much anyways? In the end its yours! If everyone gave up because of others opinions, we would never see the greatness of Picazo or Mozart! This is your model, not the AFs! Make it how you want it. I think its a great start. I agree with Bigfrit, get some primer on that thing so we can open our minds here :)

Hi, no...not that i must take AF opinion to decide doing it or not. this is a reality check, to see if i may have been over-engrossed in doing it...so much so that i tend to think one-sided.

ie. what i see/do is right, maybe wrong to all. as such, i asked for the AF modelors to see it in their point of views, as reference.

with nothing, except a couple of photos to based upon, i've suffered alot of disillusions during this build. most of the time, i 'imagine' X is supposed to be like this, Y like that etc...most of the time i don't know what i was doing!

so to do a reality check to to prevent me wasting my time doing something that's way out of proportion from the original theme...i have many such weird ferraris waiting for me & time is something i don't have...

cheers!

thankx oli!

true, i expect much from what i'm doing right now...there's alot at stake, for me that is...:banghead:

i'm just too sick & tired of waiting for the next new ferrari kit to come by.
if i can get this right, i hope i have set a good example of what we (the ferrari modelors) can do WITHOUT having to stretch our necks so long to wait for the next ferrari kit!:nono:

time is something i don't have much...

cheers!:)

The FX is one of the most obscure Ferraris you could have chosen to model- so don't beat up on yourself if people don't recognize it. It simply means that most people don't know this car.

My friend, the only errors you've made are to commit yourself to too ambitious a project. The work you've done on it is terrific. I see no flaws at all, and it would be a terrific shame for this build not to be completed. But heavy modification (which you've done extremely well) combined with opening doors guarantees that you will never finish it.

Want to finish it (and I hope you do)? Glue the doors shut. Let yourself be OK with a model that only has incredible bodywork. If you finish it, it will in all likelihood be unique- probably the only FX in 1/24 anywhere. Does such a model really have to have gimmicks like swingy doors? Is it not enough to get the body right, and enjoy it as Pininfarina meant?

But if you try to make the doors work also, it will never be finished. That would be a shame, especially in light of all the terrific work you've already put into it. And I think you know this....

Hi!

thankx for the pics link...yes, these are exactly the only pics i have to base the modification on.

as you can see, the rear deck of the interior is unknown...no shots on that. also, the front hood...what lies beneath, no one knows too.

i'm very touched that you AF modelors can identify what weird ferrari this is!
yes, no effort is wasted & i'll plough on, til it breaks.... or i break!!!

cheers!:icon16:

yes andy, you're right. i'm too ambitious in the first place.

i'll think hard about what you say bro, dropping the idea of opening doors & glue shut instead...i can see there's no point doing a full opening kit but can't finish it.

thankx for the advise andy...
