air foil, they really work ??

I was looking on another page and I saw these air foils they say it will give 40cfm of air flow to my car (94 lt1 trans am) I was wondering if that is true, and if it is a good inversion should cost me around 29 bucks, so do air foils really work?

Well, they can't really do more harm than good. Any dyno gains are negligible, but they are such a basic bolt-on for the LT1, that 90% of the LT1 owners out there have one. Its nothing you will really 'feel' but it should pay dividends with the bigger mods that demand more air flow.

It has to do something... it's pure aerodynamics.

I put an insert in my pick-up. Not an LT1, I know. However it helped with gas mileage. I didn't really notice any performance gain.

With the stock throttlebody design, there is stagnant air in the area where the airfoil would sit and it can create turbulance. In a stock engine this has no effect on power or driveability what so ever. When you start demanding more air...closer to the max flow ability of the throttlebody, this stagnated air will become a hinderance. If you have plans for major engine mods that will demand more air and can get an airfoil cheaply now, go for it. Be sure to avoid the composite ones though, aluminum corrodes fast and horribly when against carbon composites. The best thing to do would be to get one made of aluminum.

you mean one NOT made of aluminum?

no, he meant get an aluminum airfoil, to install in your aluminum throttle body. they sell carbon composite airfoils, and apparently these cause the aluminum in your throttle body to corrode. at least thats the way it was worded, i cant confirm or deny, just clarifying what he was saying.
