contour svt knocking

My 98.5 contour svt is knocking above 3000 rpm , it just started recently and I'm trying to find out what it is before spending a lot of money by taking it to a shop, maybe rods? lifters?

could be a spun main or rod bearing. might be time for a 3.0L upgrade.

dont do a 3.0 conversion it is pointless! just take off the oil pan and check the bearings. most likly it is a bearing they tend to get louder at certain rpm's

yeah, i mean who would want .5L more of displacement and 40+ hp and 40+ ft-lbs of tq over a stock svt 2.5L. :screwy:
just take off the oil pan and check the bearings. most likly it is a bearing they tend to get louder at certain rpm's
and btw, its the rod bearings that normally go so taking off the oil pan isnt going to be of any help.

how will that not help you take off the oil pan and the rod caps and check them out. trust me you will be able to tell i do work on cars for a living.
