You can buy styrene by the rod. That is what I use to make them. Use a lighter to heat it up to bend it. Tree pieces tend tt have hollow pieces that do not work good.

I pretty sure it was 1/8" rod.

Skip using the plastic sprue left over from your models!!!! The scale isn't right. If you're looking for cheap/free plastic tubes, try using the plastic tubes that make up COTTON SWABS!!!! Be aware that some (like J&J Q-tips) are rolled paper and NOT plastic! Get a box of the cheapest generic type -it'll last you for about 1000 models! Plastic cotton swab sticks are identical to Evergreen plastic tubes -but only 3 1/2 inch lengths and 1/10th the cost!!!!;)

But then you have to piece them together when you have a section that is longer than. Im not sure if it is the same plastic or not. Go with the styrene. Its like $2.50 for 8 12" pieces.
