My drivers side seatback smells like it's burning when I turn on the heated seat option. Any idea why that is? This is a new problem, have owned the car for 9 months with no issues.

My first inclination would be to say there's a short or heating element problem. Could be coming in contact with something.
I'd get out of the car, turn it on and do an extensive sniff test. Follow your nose, just like a blood hound which should help you pinpoint the location. Be patient, and let it really warm up. After you locate it, you could buy a book or go to the online manual at this link to identify more about the seat.

I had to do this for an Acura, but before I dropped it off at the repair shop, I wanted to know what I was talking about.
