did you check your oil? Yes and it was fine i do routine oil changes every 3000 miles and use synthetic oil.

is it a 4.0 v6? this engine is known for a nervous tick until warmed up. There is nothing wrong with it if its the 4.0. Taken mine in several times to the dealer and they adjust lifters and all kinds of stuff and it still ticks until warmed up. I noticed you are new at this (welcome to autoforums) it is very good to give as much information at first so people will give feedback, if not enough information someone who may know what is wrong may not give advice. Always give year, model, engine, transmission (auto , manual) 4wd or not etc. And again welcome

the oil pressure gage reads normal. its not a ping more of a tic some people have said maybe the fuel injector could be going out?

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me. I'd check the flange at the manifold outlet and the EGR tube if it has one. hope this helps:grinyes:
