Throttle Body Spacer + Intake

This may be a silly question but is there an intake kit that will work with a throttle body spacer? I was just doing some searching and saw that on my 02 z71 1500 a k&n will not work with a tb spacer. I'm not really convinced that the spacer will give me anything noticable but it is cheap and some people seem to think it will help with gas mileage. I know the k&n will help so if that is my only option... I heard on the news last night they are predicting 4.00 a gallon this summer :eek:

Also has anyone used the dryflow setup yet? I am intrigued by the whole no oiling thing. Thanks!

I have stock air box with K&N air filter i used this after 15,000mi on truck and I still have same filter 110,000mi and every 25,000mi I wash and dry and oil filter .... I noticed that the engine had greater acceleration at hyway speeds, and the gas mileage improved... what is the throttle body spacer supposed to do ? the throttle body is heated by the coolant ....does this change air temp to intake....?

I am guessing it is velocity of air into the intake from the TB... I dont know for sure though

I have seen a 5.3L with a T/B spacer and a K&N FIPK. Didnt look like they had any probs.

A throttle body spacer doesn't do anything noticeable. At least the one I had was more trouble when worth. A K&N FIPK is a really good after market setup that you can hear and feel the difference as soon as you install it.

I have an AEM Brute Force installed on my 2000 5.3L and it's the greatest thing. You just have to clean it every so often with the AEM cleaning solution and you're good to go.

throttle body spacers don't seem to make much difference on these trucks unless you have headers on it

I have a 04 with the tb spacer and the k&n intake. I had to trim the intake tube a little and trim the fan shroud, but it worked and I thinh it helped out a lot.

Check out the inside design of these truck intakes and decide for yourself if the throttlebody spacer could "swirl" the air through that hole in the back up the top of it then back down into the cylinders. It does create alot more air sounds though. :grinyes:

Yeah, its basically a paperweight. On some vehicles I could see how this design could create a sort of "vortex" of air, but when you look at the intakes on these trucks, you can see that all benefits of this would be lost due to the design. Behind the throttle body is a large opening that runs to the back of the intake where it then is forced into a small hole. This hole is a tube that in turn makes its way around back toward the front of the intake where it then distributes the air. I think its just about impossible for the vortex effect to make its way through all of this and still be somewhat functional. If the intake dropped the air directly behind the throttlebody(like the other lsx style intakes) then I guess I could see there maybe being a possibility of a small increase. I am running a spacer that works, but it does have two lines hooked up to it. :evillol:

I think its more of a mind game than anything. If you spend money on it, then you'll feel it works. As far as power, we've taken my old poweraid off at the track and run the truck with it on and off. No difference in et or mph. As for mpg, I couldn't say.

I suspected as much... It sorta seems like a more expensive version of the tornado fuel saver. Just amazing what some people can do to scheme people out of money. At least I'm not thinking about going on a diet...
