In case you missed it, the stock version is in the following thread:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=891260
It's riding high as a Donk now for tomorrow's Birmingham Classic NNL.

This is the "Donk for a day" look for my newly restored Caprice :D
I took an extra Caprice Chassis (with catalytic converter, oh my  ) and fit the front suspension, wheels, tires from the Revell Escalade kit. It even sits "properly" for a Donk, nose-in-the-air for the "superior" look of a real mid-'70's Impala or Caprice-based Donk.
After the show, the stock chassis/wheels/tires go back under it. I also fixed a few things; added interior mirror, chrome A pillar and front wheel opening moldings.

I like it either way but original looks a little better. You might get a better judging at NNL with the factory look. Nice work though.

Thanks; the two special themes are "Donks" and "49 Mercury", that's why it's a high rider/Donk/Dunk for the show. I've got a '49 Mercury for the show as well.

Well, then thats OK for the donk version then. I like it both ways anyway. At NNL, they seem to like original versions of cars most of the times. Wish you well in the Donk judging. The 49 Merc looks pretty good.

Since the NNL is a people's choice show, not formally judged, it's more like a cruise night in scale with a few awards. I'm not in it for the trophies, I rarely get any trophies at NNL's, but I do like to participate in theme categories and the Donk theme this year inspired me to restore this car in particular. It'll be fun to show it on the Donk table, and then after the show I'll have it back to the factory stock I prefer. To me the real trophies are the models themselves, and all the inspiration I get from seeing the other models and modelers there, hanging out w/friends for the day. It's going to be a very fun day :sunglasse
I restored a '69 Impala from a derelict promo, in one of my photos I put these same wire wheels under it as a joke. There were several people who pleaded with me NOT to build it that way, even though I had stated that it was just a quick photo and not the way it was being built! They were taking it waaaaay too seriously

That 69 Impala looks great in Donk form but also in factory. Where can I get that kit? Also, I know what you mean by not caring if you get a trophy or not. I built my M3 along with other nice model that I displayed at NNL East. It got really nice reactions, questions and many pictures taken of it but never won a contest. I love just having the chance to display it for vewing pleasures. I just love building model cars.
Here it is.

I build a lot of import stuff now but later will start building american cars. I want all the classic JoHan Cadillacs I can find or afford one day. Once I get back employed, I want to purchase some Caprices and Impalas also after viewing your stuff. I once had a 1973 Caprice Classic coupe 1/25 scale model I traded a new skateboard for when I was only 16 yo. The skateboard was worth 20 times as much but I really wanted that modelcar. I wish I had it now.
Anyway, Nice Impala also buddy.
