beeps when key turned on

ok really dumb question. when i turn my key on my 01 passport has a beeping sound that beeps 12 times. I really dont know if it is normal or what. I am not really sure if it has always done it and i just ignored it. Now i hear it makes me wonder>>>>>it does it every time i turn the key on.:banghead:

does anyone have a passport around this year and see if theirs beeps also when key is turned on??

Check your dash lights. Specifically, your 'check engine' light. It's probably burned out and that's how the ECM is telling you.

it seems they all light up when key is first turned on. it may have been doing it all the time i just never noticed it. i dont know

I have a 99 Honda Passport and it also beeps 12 times when starting and after removing the key. Someone told me it was turning the alarm system off and on. Maybe so, maybe no.

sorry to bring up an old thread but my 02 rodeo is doing this. 12 beeps when i start it up, 5 beeps when i turn it off. ALL dash lights turn on at startup so i know bulbs are good. when you press power or winter button the light wont turn on. i bought car used and it didnt come with the key fobs. can an aftermarket radio have something to do with this? any ideas? any help is appreciated
