Final Track Prep - Dyno run on 4.6 motor

Last detail for me was to put the car on the Dyno here in Houston to get a baseline and to have it run through the RPM range - before hitting the track. I had gone back and forth about a GTS car and these WC cars. In the end I went with the WC car for its value and like Cobra4B, I kinda like the Fuel Injection over carberators for tuning purposes. (trust me i worked on plenty of Rochesters and Holleys in the 70's and 80's). Anyway, it was well worth the effort. First off, the shop diagnosed and fixed an air bubble in the cooling system (not uncommon on the 4.6 mod motors) and a cooling fan issue. More importantly, the base run with the car as delivered was 273 RWHP and a 14.1 A/F ratio! After a number of tunes and custom programing, it now runs a solid 296 RWHP at a 12.0 A/F ration, with a LOT less timing. Needlees to say I am pleased! Now if the Texas weather holds through Sunday!!!!!

Those are pretty strong numbers. A 96-98 Mustang Cobra will usually dyno around 255-260. Unfortunately there arent any good aftermarket intakes available for the car, but there are a number of guys on the Mustang boards that will shorten the intake runners and port the intakes. This is usually good for 20-25 HP. I can put you in touch with some of the guys if you are interested.

^ Awesome numbers... that's what we're hopping to get out of the 5.0 with heads/cam/intake to prep it for ST2 next year.

Yes, I am very pleased with the numbers, but now for the proof! My brother will be at the track in my old vette so that is my true benchmark. He's a great driver and the car is dialed in (410 RWHP, coilovers, big brakes and Goodyear race rubber). I have no doubt there will be no small amount of competition between us!

Fortunately, there is a significant Mustang crowd here in Houston. Thus no shortage of really good tuners - but first we drive......
