Hello, I replaced my intake manifold on my lincoln. After the new one was put in my lincoln clickes super loud and goes up with rpms. somebody please help this is driving me nutz. My bother was driving the car when the manifold cracked, he said it did not over heat. before having it towed. does anybody know what this loud clicking could be. if the intake was leaking would it click. could it be that the coolant that got in my engine sat for to long before I changed oil. The car sat for about 4 months with the bad intake. PLEASE HELPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!

Do you have oil in the coolant, or coolant in the oil?
Check the oil dipstick for correct oil color..

Are you talking about Rocker Arms clicking? Maybe your mechanic left a tool inside the manifold / cyl. :YIKES:

The cracked manifold evacuates the coolant immediately and overheats within just a few minutes.
I'm guessing your brother isn't telling you the whole truth.

yes, I changed the oil after replacement, drove 2 miles and changed it again. There was coolant in the oil. changed it again. now the dip stick smells like gas to me. Also took the car to a shop, they said it was coming from the transmission so I took it toa trans shop they thought it was coming from the bell house. so they dropped the trans. end result they said it not the trans but they do not know what it is. scared to drive it to a futher shop.

Hmm..

If you've had professionals look at the problem, and they can't grasp it using all six senses... I'm guessing it's gonna be real tough for us here in the internet.

So many things can be ticking as the engine operates, everything's moving...
The clues are the speed of the tick, location, loudness.. is it every crank revolution?, cam revolution?, fourth piston stroke?, more frequent than crank speed?, some folks describe an exhaust leak as Ticking.

A stethoscope with a rod attached might help.

Sounds like it could be an exhaust leak. On the older 90s 4.6L There is some emission controll stuff on back of the motor / intake manifold that connects to air pump lines. Check those lines way back there and see if they are all connected.
