Inner Tie Rod

Hi, I've a 1996 Grand Prix 3.1 (230K) miles. I am searching for info on how difficult is it to install an inner tie rod on this vehicle. Took the GP to Goodyears for a front-end alignment and they claim the inner tie rod on driver side is bad. Quoted me a price of $175 to replace (labor/part). Does the rack/pinion have to be removed to replace the inner tie rod and if so, is it very difficult? I expect to get a second opinion from another shop prior to replacing the inner tie rod just to see if they make the same conclusion. Please email me (Ron) at [email protected] if you don't mind for i normally have a hard time getting into this website to check messages while at work. I would appreciate any feedback that you could provide on this matter. Take care and thanks!
